I’m a gold-standard NCTJ-qualified news, social affairs and culture freelance journalist and audio producer, based in London

I have reported for The i paper, The Independent, Yahoo News UK, The London Evening Standard, The Daily MirrorIndy100The Big Issue, Sky News and The Santiago Times

I have also been commissioned for publications including Grazia, Stylist, ProspectByline Times, Time Out London and Metro, as well as working for the B2B publications Solar Media, Dewberry Redpoint and Third Sector magazine.

I write reported features, as well as news exclusives and comprehensive explainers. For example, in 2021, my exclusive story on arrivals chaos at Heathrow airport led the i paper’s homepage coverage.

Within broadcasting, I have worked as an assistant producer for BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour and for Times Radio. Previously, in partnership with Podium.me, I featured on BBC Radio 1Xtra's 'The Secrets of Good Mental Health’, and edited News Decoder’s 'The Kids are Alright’ podcast.

In 2023, The Press Association ran a story on A&E delays which dominated the news agenda, in response to my broadcast booking of the President of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine.

My upcoming six-part narrative podcast series On the Dough explores the gendered impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the world of work.  I edit using Reaper and Adobe Audition.

I am available for reporting, feature writing, copywriting and audio producing/presenting opportunities. You can contact me on charlieaduffield@gmail.com
